The belle attracted a lot of butterflies. However, no one of them was able to pollinate it: their proboscis was too short ! But the belle looked down on them and was radiant ! What was its secret ?

Intrigued, a young man called Darwin wondered: wasn't there in the forest a butterfly with a proboscis long enough to reach the delicious nectar ?

Twenty one years later, the culpable has been unmasked. It was a butterfly of the family of the sphinx with a 30 centimetres long proboscis. Darwin had predicted it ! It is why it has been called "Xanthopan morganii praedicta"…
